LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles City Council on Friday voted unanimously to authorize the city to host the 2028 Summer Games. The contract gives the city a greater share of any financial surplus from the Games and includes a contribution of $2 billion. That still leaves Los Angeles with any cost overruns associated with the $5.3 billion sporting event. Under the agreement, LA 2028, the committee behind the city's Olympic campaign, will invest up to $160 million to increase youth sports programs in the city during the 11 year run-up to the Games. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/7p01evBklQE/us-olympics-losangeles-idUSKBN1AR27A http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
On September 20, 2017, the Los Angeles City Council approved commercial agreements worth up to $12 million between the Port of Los Angeles and GE Transportation to support the Port Information Portal, a first-of-its kind digital solution to keep cargo flowing efficiently through America’s busiest container port. After the success of the pilot program at one of the Port's container terminals, the new five-year agreements expand the project port-wide, supporting approximately 9 million TEUs (20-foot shipping containers), more than 15,000 truck providers, and thousands of cargo importers.

The Los Angeles City council has placed a bid for the 2024 Olympic Games. The council voted unanimously on Tuesday, allowing Mayor Eric Garcetti to proceed in negotiating with the US Olympic Committee. Boston, the initial US candidate for the 2024 games, exited contention in July. Should Los Angeles be selected as the host in 2017 when the International Olympic Committee finalizes their decision; it will stand with London as the second city to host three Olympic games. The city hosted the games in 1932 and 1984. Despite their enthusiastic vote, the city council members expressed caution about guarding taxpayer funds. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/sep/01/los-angeles-2024-olympics-city-council http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com
